About
Hi! I'm Colleen. I see clients from all over California both in person and virtually. I believe I bring a warm, strong, non-judgmental presence to my sessions that can be felt in person and virtually.
I strive to meet my clients exactly where they are. I believe all people can overcome their pasts and create new patterns and ways of living that bring peace, integration, and joy. I use my training in attachment, trauma, and relationships to understand each person I meet. I watch how a person's nervous system interacts with their environment, enabling me to witness each human who walks into my office as an individual with a unique past and way of being in the world.
I use my 20+ years of experience along with a combination of expressive arts, attachment knowledge, advanced training in trauma and the neuro-experiential model of Brainspotting to allow clients to connect with parts of themselves that are buried or forgotten. Connecting and nourishing these parts allow clients to decrease symptoms of anxiety and depression and experience greater connection with self and others.
I am passionate about working with children and families and have been using play and Music Therapy for years. These are great additions for children because they allow them to express themselves, tell their stories, and develop new coping skills. I love helping parents create secure relationships with their children and break cycles that fracture their ability to be the parent their child needs. I believe one of the greatest gifts a parent can give their child is to forgive, accept, and heal themselves and I am convinced that being a cycle-breaker is a spiritual calling.
I believe my combination of humor, passion, empathy, and dedication allows for a unique and meaningful therapeutic journey. I look forward to speaking with you!
Colleen Klym is a seasoned licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the South Lake Tahoe, CA area.
"Not only is Colleen a compassionate and gifted therapist, she is also an empathic and intuitive mentor and teacher who offers just the right feedback and listens and observes me and our groups so well that I am constantly learning helpful tools that I can implement in my life and with others. Colleen has taught me that music therapy is why I have always loved and sought out voice lessons and have found singing to be so healing and joyous. The songs that Colleen encourages us to use help me process old wounds and set me free to be more fully myself. I strongly recommend Colleen's Brainspotting therapeutic music interventions"
